The porcine insemination center of the province of Liège is located in Argenteau. Renovated in 2009, it can host about 75 boars.

Boars from the Belgian Piétrain breeding program will stay there until they have produced the required number of frozen straws. After that, they will leave to their new owners.

During their stay, boars will be used in fresh seed for cross-breeding genetic evaluation. Boars that could not be used in fresh should be used in frozen semen.
